One of the little perks of travelling abroad (which I guess I’ll have to give up when I move out here) is the meals. Because you are on your own away from family and friends living in a hotel room with no kitchen facilities people often take you out for a meal.
So I’m in the US again, the flight out could have been better, the entertainment system was broken and all we got was that map thing, and there were two babies opposite who spent quite a while screaming, but I’ve had worse flights.
So Mass Effect 2 biowares latest opus and middle part of the trilogy is out and I spent a good few hours playing it before I had to pack and get myself to heathrow for a business trip to LA. As a result it's going to be a while till I next play it.
So I’m off the the US for few weeks on Sunday, it’s a bit of a pain given the timing and it will put back the move for I would suspect at least a month but these things can’t be helped. Part of the reason I’m moving is because of these sudden trips out.
So over the past few days I’ve been sorting out my flat ready for let/buy I’ve had a few estate agents round to give me their views with one still to go and another few booked in for next week.
I know it must seem like I get a real kick out of spotting other’s taxonomic mistakes and pointing them out here, but really I’d be a much happier man if it wasn’t necessary. All it would take would be for journalists to double check their terms before going to press, or to make sure they got their pieces proof read by someone familiar with the subject.
It's been a tough month if you're keen to be outside training. We've had just shy of a foot of settled snow in Berkshire, combined with a shortage of grit meant pretty much impassable roads. The snow has left (for now), but it seems to have left behind some fairly epic potholes, and vast amounts of crud on the road in the way of stones, grit etc, so cycling contineus to be a challenge...
So my passport was returned a little earlier. It takes up a page in my passport and rather redundantly contains a photo of me, which my as my boss put it makes me look like a serial killer (which I guess is par for the course).
Anyway I have my licence to live and work in the US just now need to sort out a few of the in-between steps.
Spent saturday going from estate agent to estate agent finding none of them had anyone useful in on a saturday. This meant I spent monday fielding calls from the people I wanted to talk to on saturday . None of them wouldn’t talk details over the phone so I had to make appointments with them. The up shot of which is I’ll be seeing a range of them over the next two weeks.
So, Firefox 3.6 is finally here, and on average it’s 20% faster than 3.5. It’s actually a really noticeable improvement for both rendering and scrolling around pages; I’d say it’s more or less on a par with Safari on most pages. I hear from Windows using friends that it’s similarly quicker on that platform too, approaching the speed of Chrome, in places.
