This may be something really numpty, however I'm new to this entire house thing still.
I yesterday discovered that my flat roof was leaking (its just a small entryway and downstairs toilet). My initial thought was get a tarpaulin to cover it, and then try to fix it myself...however I have fully comp house insurance (which I always completely forget about)...can you get stuff like that sorted out on insurance?

Probably not apparently. Just spoken to them, and unless the weather was past a certain level of bad its considered more of a maintainence issue. It _was_ a bit tatty...
...next step is to get it covered, and then get quotes for it I guess...
