PAX Prime Approaching

Tomorrow evening I fly out to Seattle for Pax Prime and I'm really looking forward to it. Last year byrnie and myself attended PAX prime then flew to newzealand which was astonishingly tiring PAX by itself can be quite overwhelming add 13hr flight and crossing the dateline so you lose a day and it's not fun. We has planned for it and spent our first day in Auckland draining countless cups of coffee and generally looking bewildered at the time shift.

This year it's just me and after the four days of pax rather than flying 1/4 of the way round the world I'm taking a few days off after PAX to relax in Seattle which should be fun.

I've been planning my panels as always a load of them overlap but that's par for the course. The show floor is always an experience like being smashed in the face with hundreds of game adverts while huge numbers of people mill around aimlessly.

I've developed a strategy over the few years I've been going. Day one I just wander aimlessly taking things in if there is anything really new and exciting this is the day to try and see it the queues are always shorter. Day two start to work out what there is and what I want to take a second pass at. Day three go to see specific things budgeting time is a good factor you can queue for hours to try the latest and greatest big budget game or you can queue for a short while to try some of the less well known stuff or indie games it's a trade off. Day four (which is relatively new it used to be just 3 days) probably repeat day three and look for anything I've missed.

In amongst that there are the various panels to attend some concerts tabletop and boardgame stuff they also have some lan's set up and several of the people attending setup their own additional events outside the pax halls, for instance Double fine are showing massive challis and having a dev and bev drink and game session which I'm going to try and attend. last year we took in a test game of d&d future so I might see if there is something similar I hear they are betaing Gabes Thornwatch game so maybe that would be worth a look.

So I'm getting excited to go I'm charging all my gadgets making sure I have all my bits of paper and really looking forward to it. I'll likely post some thing on either google+ or twitter on what I see and the events I attend I'll also take a load of photos.

Hey EMW, not sure what you mean by "seems to have come unlinked from lack"? I've not put the feed aggregator back on yet! Work has been mental, so not up for doing programming in the evenings! :)

I was forgetting the upgrade it was broken in the previous version now it's just not implemented :D

Interesting you can edit original blog posts but not any comments.

Anyway on reflection the above came off a bit adversarial which wasn't the intent I was just pointing out that stuff was there for those that are interested. I'd forgotten we had switch over to a new version but there's no rush to add aggregation (which tried to auto correct to aggravation which is amusing) stuff I know it's a lot of work to make one of these things tick over and spare time is a precious resource :)

No worries matey. Next big thing to do will be to move L-O onto a new server host (Linode) so my spare tech-hours are devoted to that. After that, I've got more opportunity to sort out the aggregation side (G+ too).
