Wotcha playing in Sep 12?

Gaming wise, I'm about to have a bit of a shift, I think. I love returning to Minecraft for a bit of a "holiday", it really feels like a second home and I can potter around like a digital garden. I'm still planning on finishing CSA, and improving the underside now it is up so high.

Torchlight 2
Bought it ages ago. Going to love it. Want to do some Co-Op! If anyone is up for some Co-Op, please let me know.

Saints Row 3
The story was superb and kept me laughing. I'm going to play through with a female character now. Co-Op was brilliant fun because it gets ridiculous quickly and stays that way. Perhaps a little too easy, Big R and I in a tank each were never really overwhelmed.

Tribes: Ascend
Still having trouble getting into this one. It's so fluid that teamwork is quite difficult. More than other online shooters, it feels like loads of single players rather than a team.

Just Cause 2
If you see me playing this then Felix is sitting on my lap with the headphones on. He likes it when I drive/float/boat around the island. He likes to wait until we're in the wilds before ordering me to obtain a boat/plane/helicopter.

That's about it for the moment. Wotcha playin'?

Looking forward to Torchlight 2...that on the list for tonight!

Tribes:Ascend - for me the teamwork is key...there are roles that need filling, tightly linked to the classes. Defenders cover inward routes + the generator room...flag cappers plan complicated, fast routes to the flag, and support each others mad escapes...mid-field lunatics support the flag runs, and intercept opponents. I can't play the fast roles for toffee, but have got a good handle on running a tight defense...if there 1 other good defender we are pretty much water-tight, but too many and we are weak in other areas.

It actually feels a bit like a sports team...your role and position in the team is key, otherwise it all falls apart.

I would say that the learning curve is steep, and the limitation on class unlocks is frustrating, as you really do need the class to match the role you are playing. THis is, once again, one of my least favourite design models...the inability to trial a class prior to unlocking (with money or experience) it is a big pain...

I picked up Tower Wars, as I love me a bit of Tower Defense...played the single-player sections a lot, if anyone else picks it up wouldn't mind giving the multi-player a go (combined tower defense/offense).

I backed FTL on Kickstarter ages ago, and it was released last week. It's a super-tough space-trade/fight game. So far I've gotten nowhere, but it has a very nice retro feel to it, and a good hit of "One More Go!".

Agree with pretty much everything Pete said with regards teamwork in Tribes. Its learning curve is a bit of a cliff but one you get your head around it then everything makes much more sense.

Speaking as one of the nippy buggers that's all vodoo to Pete, timing is everything. One of my preferred modes of capping is to wait around at the start of one of my run routes and wait for someone else to attempt a doomed grab (doomed due to the large amount of defence I've scoped out). As soon as the flag gets nicked I start my run, knowing that defenders have been drawn away and any mines etc... are likely to have been cleared by the other guy. If the timing is right I'll hit the flag just as they return it. I'd say about 30% of the runs I try along these lines are successful.

Anyhoo, did someone say Torchlight 2?

Chris and myself have just finished the main campaign with our first characters in Torchlight 2 (him an Engineer, me an Embermage). Both are a tad over level 50, with suitably insane levels of damage :-)

Cracking laugh...and now we have the option to restart, with the game levelling to us, or enter the dungeons in Mapworks. I'm starting an Outlander, and shall move him upto teh end as well

Torchlight 2 is rocking - it's a pity my playing time is so limited that I can't keep my character up to date.

In other news, I finished the main plotline of Skyrim last night. I had a problem where I wasn't doing any damage to the top-nasty-dragon on top of a snowy mountain (no spoiler there). I thought I was using an incorrect tactic and had tried a lot of different things before giving up. After some Googling this weekend, it appeared that Skyrim had a bug and that I had to walk away and come back. By doing so, I'd be able to do damage. Which I did. A lot.

I am not sure if I am going to get Dawnguard. Nor am I too worried about Hearthfire (the build your own house free DLC ). Hearthfire might end up coming out in October for PC (been out already for XBox), I can't say I'm overly excited.

re: Torchlight character levelling...what is probably worth doing is organising a "team", and then having characters for that team which are just played in session, so they level together.

I know I have a low-level Outlander, and Simpson has a slightly higher level Berserker which we were working on when our play schedules did not collide...

Feels like a forum thread to me... I'll set one up.

Back on topic ...

Diablo III - Played when it came out, got bored in a week, discovered they had added *new* paragon levels, played again ... got bored in 2 days ... then saw Torchlight II was out, and played Diablo some more to make sure I was totally bored ... then bought Torchlight.

Torchlight II - A great surprise, not had much of a chance to play, but it is refreshing compared to Diablo.

SWTOR - Keep going back to it, keep getting disinterested; in the end it really lacks content and diversity, but is still fun with a good group of people ... and a nightmare with a bunch of prats.

FTL - Awesome, every time I start playing this I manage to lose hours of my life without realising. Competed it on easy ... still practising end boss killing options before trying on normal again.

Saints Row the Third – Simple crazy fun, multiplied in multiplayer, was a little short I thought, but that could have been because I enjoyed it too much. As Rob said, not much of a challenge.

Not played it yet, but very much in anticipation of the new XCOM! Just finished downloading the demo last night when I was pushed away from the computer so Charlotte could play Torchlight II.
