Vista is having a bad time. It's not much of an upgrade from XP (bar DX10 and some bling) and it's been panned by long term users for pointless security 'features' that slow any powerful machine down (intranet file copy goes through a virus scan as standard, for example).
So Microsoft have been running a campaign in the US where they take 22 people who have never used Vista and then ask them questions. They say bad things about it because of the rumours they've heard. They then show them the 'new' Windows Mojave and they come back with lots of praise. As BoingBoing Gadgets rightly points out:
Vista's not a terrible OS. It's pretty okay in a lot of ways. But I find something just bile-churning about Microsoft launching a multi-million dollar campaign to downplay Vista's issues and paint the detractors as unreasonable imbeciles and luddites.
What I'd like to see is 22 computer professionals who are forced to use Vista at work and see what they think of it.
