interesting that it supposedly releases in june the same time as the launch of intels atom chip
a lot of the big players are looking to get some of the eeepc ultra portable pie with HP making a via open book design and the new via chip just around the corner. Soon we'll be knee deep in mini laptops.

Good like there, Mark. It seems that the new small form factor is filling something of a gap in the market. And why not?! Ultra-low cost computing should be here to stay. I wonder if it's got enough OOMPH to run a web server? If so, I'd probably be able to develop chom isis on one, replacing the clunky big bastard I normally use. Of course, graphics might be a bit of a strain.
I always take my laptop on holiday with me, so I really like these machines... however given my laptop only weighs a couple of kilos anyway, and comfortably fits in a bag I can't really justify getting one...

MSI Wind features overclocking built in, interesting idea. Clock the chip low when running off the battery but when you have mains clock it up for some more performance neat little gimick

Is that a new idea? I'm pretty sure my Dell did that the better part of a decade ago, and my 4 year old PowerBook definitely does. Is there something fancy about the MSI implementation that I'm missing?

If your thinking of the same one I am, its was/is called SpeedStep

yeah it's not a new idea but it's not something very common in laptops, mainly due to the heat problems inherent, applying it to this niche seems appropriate tho
Interesting it's a via c7m I'm surprised they didn't wait for the via nano although it's a pin compatible replacement so maybe they'll do an e2pro that has the nano

I notice the MSI Wind is now filtering out into retail
at the moment you can buy the Advent 4211 (the same hardware and chassis as the msi wind just rebranded with 80gig hdd 1g ram xp home and the 1.6ghz atom) from dixons/pcworld for 279 about 40quid less than the msi branded model. Dixons have a net coupon that will knock another tenner off that taking it to 269.99.
