This is a bizarre and grim tale of an English woman who went to new york for a holiday with her two daughters got pneumonia and had to go into hospital. Her kids were then for some reason sent to an orphanage where they were strip searched, had all their belongings and clothes taken, were made to shower in front of security staff, and were then made to fill out a form with questions like "Have you ever been the victim of rape?" and "Do you have homicidal tendencies?"
One question asked "are you in a street gang?" to which one kid replied: "I'm a member of Appledore library." pretty tough gang the Appledore Library no one messes with those cats they'll stamp you overdue as soon as look at you.
The mother eventually recovered enough to discharge herself where upon she tracked down the girls, she has since been notified she is under investigation by US Administration for Children and Families because her kids were taken into care.

Whilst there are many disturbing aspects to this tale I heard the kids on the radio last night. To say they seemed unfazed by the *ordeal* would be an understatement. All in all they seemed to think it was a bit of a laugh!
It's certainly a story for the kids to tell. I'd like to think that the authorities here would take better care of visitor's children if they were to fall ill.
This is a terrible enditement!
and then to send this veiled threat to the woman in question
It's good that these kids came out of it OK (but then the Appledorn library gang are a tough bunch) but it might well have scared the bejesus out of other kids. Plus it's less clear what might have happened if the woman was ill for a longer period.
I would not be surprised if the Appledorn Library Gang are extrodited on Terrorist charges to spend a lifetime in Guantanamo Bay.
They could try it, they're pretty handy with a date stamp though
