They clearly don't trust it or they'd get some altitude. Come back to me when you have some altitude. And I mean 500ft of altitude where most parachutes won't help you and water is still like concrete.

it's always the problem with the flying car designs and indeed jetpacks. What's the failure mode, in this case and most others it plummets from the ky like a brick. Plane can glide helicopter can auto rotate but this thing is entirely non aerodynamic. In this case they can dump it in the lake as long as they fly at 3ft off the surface :S but if it's limited to only functioning over water not very practical and it's likely why this sort of thing will never be practical
Of course the colin furze version of this is even more dangerous and petrol powered
