Most of the steam sale just has pages of games on sale that I already own (wish there was a way of filtering out stuff you already had)
but I did spot vermintide was on offer for not very much base game is 15 dollars the game +dlc's is 20 and there is a bundle of all of fat shark's games for 20 that includes vermintide and all it's dlc's and bunch of other games (most of which I've never heard of)
supposed to be a bit left for dead but with giant rat men rather than zombies
might be worth a shot for some sunday gaming once we've beaten the end dragon?

I've had this earmarked for a while, it's apparently very good. Just bought the base game...
Bought! Installing now.
Bought.
It's 27GB! This might take a while to download.
I enjoyed last night, though how GW have not had their eyeballs sued off for the most blatant copy of Left 4 Dead I have no idea.
As a Warhammer geek of sorts, I did like the classes and theme. The different characters felt suitable different, and useful in different scenarios. Once I had the staff that allowed me to draw a template for the (definitely not a witch) Bright Wizard, and had the heat-venting mechanism explained to me, I was having great fun blowing shit up. Quite looking forward to waving the beam-o-death about.
Some of the game mechanisms are not well explained. After a bit of reading, all the collectibles (Tomes, Dice etc) improve the equipment roll at the end of a level. There is a decent official wiki that gives more information, and also explains the different weapons each character can use...
Had a cracking blast last night, having Pete light up the floor like an insane Witchy-Disco was a chuckle. I hope the unlocks remain interesting because I think the game might suffer from being quite samey. I preferred the Witch Hunter to the Soldier as there were more options for hopping about shooting and stabbing. Having Big R as the dwarf is the oddest thing I've had to contemplate in a while.
It makes me want to play L4D2 again.
I really enjoyed it, but I was a bit disappointed by very slow pace of the progression system.
It was pretty good fun I enjoyed trying out the different characters that all have their different focus. BigR and myself played a bit longer after and found the AI for team mates is quite rubbish. The bright wizard especially just uses the sword 99% of the time which is daft she should be laying down that fire. They also do that thing where they wander off and fail to follow you which isn't as crippling as it would be on l4d but on things like escort objectives it makes things difficult.
I'm up for some more Rat mashing tonight! Should be on between 1930 and 2000.
I shall be around...
