So the foo show is a VR talk show from ex tested.com Will Smith. They did a free pilot episode that is on steam where they talked to Campo Santos about Firewatch. It's "shot" in VR with all the participants in vr headsets with motion tracked controls (they vive at the moment) and then they have low poly representations of the people in the vr environment and a bit of inverse kinematics and some guesswork from the head and hand positions gives you a pretty good approximation of the person's position and gait. You are then there with them in the environment and it's a surprisingly convincing illusion of real people, your brain interprets the simple body language cues and assigns the simple avatars personhood such that you find yourself moving out of their way and allocating personal space to entirely insubstantial recorded people.
They have a studio environment but because it's in VR they can then take it into other virtual places so in the pilot they visited the firetower from the game and you can pick up the various props and wander around looking at things.
They currently have a kickstarter for the first season and if you don't own one of the currently supported headset (vive and oculus touch they have plans to support things like daydream gear vr and PSVR and the like in future) they plan to offer a 2d version of their client to kickstarter backers.
It's a very interesting concept something using VR in a new way that is something you couldn't really do in normal media at least not in a satisfying way. It's also going the crowd funding route which couldn't have happened until relatively recently so it's definitely way of the future++. I'll probably back this as I really enjoyed the first episode it was fascinating to be able to take a close look at the various background and hero props from firewatch while the devs talked about how everything got put together.
You can still get the pilot on steam for free at the moment if you have a compatible headset
