This came out on PS4 a while back and I just noticed there is now a pc version it's from the same people that did the new version of gauntlet and is a coop twin stick shooter. It's also on special for the next 13 hours and is relatively inexpensive even when full price.
might be worth a go.

It looks quite promising.
I am tempted by some DLC ... not sure about all of it.
My budget is a little short for the next few months\years, but if there is a good chance we might play this, then I will grab it; I just need to know before the sale ends.
The sale seems to end feb 12 so some time to decide :)
Looks fab. I've totally just bought it.
I picked up a copy too
I have followed the crowd.
Excellent. Up for this tonight. Not even run it yet. Should be on around 8pm ish.
I have something I have to do which might run slightly past 8, but hopefully I will be ready in time.
Looking like 8:25ish, sorry.
It was a great game, I look forward to our next bin-diving adventure!
To put minds at ease, I probably won't play the game solo to upgrade, the fun was very much in the team play.
It was most enjoyable, though I suspect it's going to get much trickier (there is an awful lot of anti-tank weaponry, and the only vehicles that have killed me so far have been our own).
GET IN THE BIN!
I loved it, a great find, EMW. I think with four the ammo/friendly fire tactics are going to be that much more important! I'm looking forward to using Air Strikes and the like. I also really like the UP DOWN LEFT RIGHT decoding stuff. I noticed that the codes for each Stratagem are fixed, so you start getting quicker at them. You could also Macro them but I think it's funnier to cock it up when under intense fire!
I also love the teamwork aspect. Those times when we're not crossing in front of each other's line of fire and one of us has to do a mission such as the unexploded ordnance. It's great to have two people covering your back while you do it. I think the missions are all designed for 4 people, so I think we could have called down a Bot to help us out. I liked also that the early missions were crazy easy to give you a chance to get used to everything rather than brutally killing you... except the lava fields, which was hilarious. To be fair, there is always a choice of planets, so we can avoid the lava ones.
I agree with Big R that this is definitely a game to play with chums rather than levelling up alone.
EMW - go through the tutorial. It's 15 mins and will give you the flavour of it. We got up to level 4 but I really don't see that it matters if you joined in next week as level 1.
I did a bit of reading on Stratagems. They have a certain type, and you can't have 2 of the same type (for example, the shield, and the Guard Dog are both "Back Packs").
It's also notable that we all seem to have bought the DLC...lots of stuff we were using is paid DLC (robots, guns etc etc). This may also explain why we had it slightly easier to begin with (the heal-bot is DLC, for example, as are most of the giant walkers).
There are some unlocks we need to look for;
Fuck Yeah!
Who wouldn't?
I'd like two please...one on each shoulder
...and my personal favourite
You had me at JUMP PACK. Definitely good reason to keep pushing for harder missions.
If you get the Incinerator, I'll bring the bangers and buns. Oh, and the charred Big Rob. There'll be plenty to go around yum.
I was still flying back from San Antonio this weekend hopefully I'll be about next weekend (I might be off doing something with Jen who is about for business)
If there is any chance of people being around to play this during the week, I can probably make myself available.
Did the tutorial last night so should be ready to go when I can next participate in some gaming
I'm provisionally around this Sunday, assuming everything goes to plan.
Me too!
What plan, Pete? You taking something over?
Nah, just a busy weekend. Racing at Hillingdon on Saturday + cycling there and back, and cycling to Portsmouth and back on Sunday to watch a couple of mates race. Got to fit the rest of the weekend around that (laundry, food prep etc), and not collapse asleep. Being awake at 8pm on a Sunday can be a challenge in itself!
For those who aren't playing, here is a representative moment of Pete squashing me on the spawn.
Skillz
Also, lets never fight the Illuminate again.
The off-screen sniper bullshit was just too much. The rest was kinda cool - the thing that calls its makes when it goes invincible, the aliens themselves are nice big targets. Just that fucking sniper. Ruined it for me.
I would hope there is a good stratagem for exploding areas just outside your view ... or next time we just MECH IT!!!
I think the main thing to be worried about is that we haven't faced anything hard yet...no Tanks, no Elites, and no Warlords. We don't even carry anti-tank guns with us...
I'm suspecting this is when you're really gonna need the mechs, laser cannons and stratagems.
It looks like the community don't think the Illuminate Hunters shooting off screen is a problem. They are all amazing at putting in codes - especially defuse ones - that they don't even think about it.

I think this is letting off poor game design but there you go.
I was getting the knack of moving out of the way, but then again I very rarely input any codes...too busy throwing ammo around. The personal shield Stratagem would definitely help us though (after all, it covers the back, and that is where most of the damage we take comes from...as we shoot each other!)
I was trying the arc shotgun at that point which didn't help since it's limited to short range I wasn't able to shot those fuckers at all
I think we should all take motorbikes
As it happens, I had the sniper rifle, which proved to be OK, at the long distance guys, but useless for anything else, especially when a large group teleported in en-mass.
Is there a sniper rifle Stratagem weapon? Possibly you could take a more general purpose main weapon, and a long-range specific third weapon? We will need to start doing this sort of thing once we start facing tanks and elites...
I think there is, and I agree. It was just bad luck that I was trying out the normal sniper rifle when we hit "THAT" planet.
I'm up for this Sunday, as usual!
Barring accidents/falling asleep, I should also be around.
I will be around.
I'll be about
I'm afraid I'm no longer available this evening...got a date with Deadpool instead. Should be funny, as Gill has not heard of it.
Have a good one, I'll see the other Helldivers around 19:45
This evening EMW gets man-of-the-war award for being last man standing, jump packing away from the target we were sent to assassinate and then bringing down Big R's drop pod onto its head. Fair fucking play, mate!
It made up for all the times I killed people with motorbikes
Reversing over me and Big R in one swoop as I CLIMBED OUT was legendary.
I'm not going to be around for a couple of weeks now (flying to Spain this Sunday, flying back next Sunday)...
BALLBAG! I fancy a bit of something else next Sunday... perhaps some GTA V or Rocket League... we'll try not to level up without you (not that I think it makes a great deal of difference tbh).
Does level actually do anything other than unlock cool new toys?
I don't think it does, which is actually pretty cool. Also, a lot of the new toys call down multiple copies at higher levels, so you can twink lower level players...
Based on this I make two assumptions:
before Pete's return.
There is a remote, outside chance that I can join you this Sunday, however it depends on a lot of things;
1) Being awake (leaving for Gatwick at 3am...and we'll be out riding in the afternoon)
2) The questionable internet of the Alpujarras, and the wifi in Puerta Nazari
3) Me working out time differences
That said, it won't be the first time I've done online gaming from questionable locations
Thoroughly enjoyed last night's session...difficulty has definitely ramped up, though self-induced team wipes still seem more common. I think the game handles it really well actually...none of this "try again" malarky, just "you fucked up...move on".
I'll never put a tank in my load-out again.
My standard loadout is now 3 mechs one jetpack
We were clearly just out of practice ... EMW didn't even manage to run anyone over with his bike, which is unheard of.
Lots of chuckles last night. Sorry about killing everyone. Especially with the robot.
