This article in the nytimes looks at the crimes of a serial swatter a teenage kid from canada who went by the name of "Obnoxious" who would DDos female gamers on twitch until they would chat with him then would request pictures then nude pictures then other things and if refused he would dox them and gradually ramp up the abuse from threatening messages to sending pizza to their houses to sending swat teams to their house.
It's a terrifying glimpse of how people can be targeted by this sort of thing especially here in the US where police militarization is at an all time high and how it's almost impossible to stop or have the perpetrator arrested or charged despite it causing real harm.
It follows this one case and how they did get some resolution but precious little after a huge amount of effort. It shows the police unable to understand the crime and often more likely to blame the victims than investigate the perpetrator and even if they do that the law is ill equipped to level an appropriate punishment.
