On the anti-theft side of things, I am not quite sure it is going to do much if the bike thief uses their chain cutters on the main body of the halo before then stealing your bike.
I'm definitely not the target market...most heavy cyclists will already have a Garmin head-unit, which knocks the spots off this, and a casual cyclist won't splash out £150 on a gimmick. It also uses your phones GPS, so your battery on that is going to be killed!
I'm also highly doubtful on the "security" it offers. How many times have you seen a car alarm going off, and people dashing to protect it?
Finally, it wouldn't fit on my super-wanky integrated stem.
hmmm the hardware in this doesn't look worth the hundreds of dollars it's a neopixel ring and some sort of microprocessor a battery and a bluetooth module
I recon I could build something like this with a glowy wheel of lightss that would replicate all but the gps business and that might be possible depending on what sort of api google maps allows access to.
I'm also skeptical of the "military-grade locking system" do the military have to mount a lot of things to bicycles?
If your bike is worth stealing, they turn up in a white van with power tools. If your bike is worth less than £150, people will steal it for the halo. I wouldn't get it.
