I suppose this was inevitable in that for years how you would describe minecraft to someone was "it's like lego but in a computer" now we have lego worlds which could be described "like minecraft but with lego"
looks like it has far greater levels of control on the large scale than minecraft has except with mods it also seems to have vehicles and other more game elements in there.
It'll be interesting to see where this goes if they manage to out minecraft minecraft and since mojang are now part of the evil corporate overlords and no longer the plucky underdog their lack of progress with minecraft is less easy to forgive.
I'll likely pick this up just to see what the differences are since it's $15
Minecraft as much as I love it has been sliding along without really progressing things relying on its market leading position to not have to do anything and maybe it needs someone else to show them how it should be done.

I'm dissapointed that you haven't mentioned the funniest news article I found yesterday...
Some people have the job of working out how to identify penis structures in virtual Lego, while others have to appraise Lego Penis structures
So, when you are in Lego Worlds, don't forget to build a dong! You're keeping people in work...
.
Definitely. Buying. This.
Completely agree, EMW. I love pottering around in our world - it's relaxing. When I'm shattered, I like nothing more than doing a bit of this and that. New path here, tidy that up, new stairs, prettify or just gather some resources while I have radio 4 on in the background.
However, I also like adding new stuff and if you're playing vanilla, there isn't much new to speak of. I think they should have increased the Dev team and resources some time ago so that when the leads need to help on the other platforms or go to conferences then work doesn't stop.
I wonder what machine it's going to need to render scenes like in the video. These landscapes are notoriously heavy on the polys.
it's an interesting game it has a lot more premade stuff than minecraft and it has these two building modes a sort of voxel paint that is large scale landscape creation and then brick mode where you assemble stuff from the lego bricks. Both modes are much more focused than minecrafts first person construction you are basically outside your avatar it also has all the alignment and other useful tools to make constructing what you want easier. So far it doesn't have the survival element or the resource collection that minecraft had indeed there is so far no real crafting. It also has a bigger emphasis on exploration you start the game with a limited selection of parts and as you find new things in the world they get added to your inventory and you can buy them with lego bits you get through doing things and smashing things. Vehicles are fun some of them have various special features like I found a digger inexplicably up a tree. When activated it would dig out the landscape. I also rode around on a polar bear for a while smashing stuff.
