Saw this today a sort of god game using similar graphics to planetary annihilation looks like they've got some grand scope there and a pretty looking tech demo
They are aiming pretty high, on a pretty small budget.

true and there have been quite a few projects that overreached or fell victim to the stretch goal issue of promising way more than you can deliver.
It could also turn out to be another Godus :S

Godus: AKA 'Click the bubbles'.
Has no-one yet taken their anger of Molyneux to it's logical conclusion? *that he should be repeatedly poked in the forehead until his head deforms like it's being sculpted by a god*

There's now godus 2.0 which they say took the clicking out ... though since that was basically the whole game I'm not sure that's a good thing
Molyneux is famous for promising the world and delivering slough. He was keynote speaker at PAX last year and his talk was on Godus and I'll give him one thing he's a compelling speaker and he makes the ideas he's had sound interesting but the actual games he delivers are shadows of those ideas and this time it seems to have lost more than most. He had all this stuff about technologies and building great societys inter clan warfare and all I've seen is a mediocre god game where all I can do is click the landscape a little bit.
I remember the hype for fable how the whole world would change based on your actions you could plant trees and watch them grow or go round scaring children who would grow up and try and kill you wield frying pans as weapons and have them imbued with magical power through repeated use. None of that was in there it was a fun 3rd person action game with a very simple combat system where people continually called you "Chicken Kicker" in a west country accent.
The second one added the dog which was pretty genius but most of the rest of the game was similar.
With those two there was enough there to have some fun even if it wasn't the game promised in this case I'm not actually sure there's a game there at all maybe an AI demo that's been inexplicable fused to Z brush.
