A new tech startup that produces facial recognition camera systems tied to Facebook tagged photos, plans to offer the technology to more traditional physical stores so they could offer you appropriate deals as you enter their business. That’s great for stores who want to have more targeted information about you, based on a bit of your history and likes. But what about privacy, what are the implications?

Only if you sign up for the service...
Not really... in the same way that every time I go into an airport I get checked against a criminal database, every time I do a credit card payment it gets checked for fraud etc etc.
If it means that I won't see an advert for sanitary towels again, it can only be a good thing.
I'm sure that will be the case. Why were you seeing Sanitary Towel adverts anyway? Dodgy sites you visit on Facebook?
Television. I need Television to stop showing me fucking ads that have nothing do with me. Once the rest of the world catches up to profile based advertising, it'll be a better place.
I remember Facebook going through a period where it'd apparently decided I was gay... It was all, "GIRLS meet them HERE and HERE and OVER THERE!" But after a few months of me ignoring them it plumped for, "MEN! COCKS! EVERYWHERE! You'll like these men. Go be gay, its great." That carried on right up until I told it about Jayne.
In summary I think profile based advertising has some development opportunities left in it.
LOL, Nibbles. You ARE gay. So.... standard.
