Done by Uber (Monday Night Combat devs), who include some of the technical team who did Total Annihiliation and Supreme Commander.
The "this is what we are thinking " video is rather splendid... I seem to remember begging for a SC3 game...perhaps this is it?

Also, Notch has just backed it, and tweeted about it, so that means Notch's army will follow soon...
With a day and a half to go, this is definitely being made, and it's been great to see how the game has evolved over the last month, with the feedback of the backers... It's now hit all it's content stretch-goals...Naval units and Water-planets...Gas-Giants and Orbital units...Lava World and "not Death Stars guv" Metal Worlds, as well as now a Galactic Warfare metagame.
There is a fairly nifty tool called KickTraq where you can view the progress of a Kickstarter. You can see the big hike in backers when they announced the Galactic War mode on the 6th September
The next goal is a rather hefty 190K away (8am Thursday)...adding in a full, studio-recorded orchestral soundtrack...that one is touch and go, but there is still a pool of money in Paypal to add in (mainly for international backers, where Amazon Payments is temperamental...)
Right. I've just backed it. Looks brilliant.
I'm tempted but I back too many of these things usually at too much money and so far I've gotten back 2 out of the many.
I know what you mean Matt...it's very tough to see good ideas and not back them. I also have too many on my backing list (also got 2 back...FTL the game, and I have an authentic ballista currently en route to me!)
I'm trying to make sure I only support projects that are reasonably going to complete...I reckon Uber are a safe bet in this case...
I backed it and have the option to add additional retail keys at $20 each or beta keys at 40$ each. Does anyone want me to get them one before I finalise my account?
Ohh...good reminder, I need to complete my fulfillment details today.
I'm get to name a planet :-)
I've got to fulfill too.
If you didn't catch this...
First in-game footage of Planetary Annihilation.
Liking what I hear so far...they are avoiding micro-managing, still a heavy focus on blowing crap out of everything, and the Alpha starts towards the end of May (relevant to my interests...)
Love the live rewind...hopefully that will be in the final game, as it would be great to come across an ex-base that you were not paying attention to, and do a quick "what teh fuck happened here" to see it getting steam-rollered.
