It prolly won't last long but we should totally play this at FC, it's a hilarious open world "racer" with silly speeds, mega crashes and not particularly realistic physics. What's more, you can set up challenges such as "Most air" or "Longest drift". Loads of racing playability.
You need Origin to download DO IT NOW.

Just tried it...didn't work.
Enter PARADISE as the promo code, drops it down to free.
It has to be done from within the client, on the website it fails.
Just got mine :D
Hmmm....that might be working, though
1) Origin is not a very nice client
2) It keeps going blank
Shall try a bit more...
That was a genuine battle...didn't realise driving games had such tough boss fights.
it's now downloading, after about 10 minutes of getting blank screens after pressing "Yes, I agree" several times. I would never trust such an atrocious interface with actual financial details, or you end up in the "have I paid, or did it crash" situation.
Origin, a great advert for Steam!
Got. Eventually. It waited until I was nearly done creating my new account before sending me a password reminder...
So next question...xBox controllers on a PC...I'm sort of hoping Windows 7 can just work with them? As in...turn on Blu-tooth, and register it as a controller?
No idea here (in general...). I'll probably be on the good old dual shock.
I shall wander downstairs and pick one up...give it a go. It would be rude not to abuse the facilities of a laptop...
The answer is no...you have to buy a widget to make it speak to teh PC, which is more effort than I'm willing to goto...Dual Shocks it is...
babyc - my wired XBox works ok. Plug-in and blam.
the wireless ones don't work they are proprietary wireless not Bluetooth or something standard and their usb cable adapter only connects to their battery not the data path.
You can buy a wireless adapter that works for them but it's a hassle
Yeah...mine are wireless. The adapter is £20'ish, which is not really worth it. I should have a Dual-Shock and a USB adapter in the crate'o'wires, so I'll drag that along instead.
You can play it with keys but it's not as much fun and powersliding is tricky as you have on/off acceleration.
Very early to say but. I reckon this might be game-of-the-con.
Um yeah - I was going to say everything that people have discovered about wireless widgets and wired controllers.
I do have a rarely used wired 360 controller though, and I'm not going to be attending, so if anyone needs a loaner for the weekend...
Does it have the 'Breakoff' connector thing such that it has a proper USB on one end rather than a round plug? If so, I'll pick it up Tuesday - someone will make good use of it, ta! :)
It's the official 360-controller-for-PC package, which I bought for the last FishCon, so it has a normal USB plug and comes with a driver disc (which anything Vista or newer doesn't need, IRRC.)
I'll dig it out ready for Tues; you might have to remind me to hand it over though - I'm almost certain to forget.
