So exciting pistons look like a lot of fun and you wonder what else is in the adventure update some other cool things no doubt :D

Curse you notch why must you continually break your promises!

I do like the idea of pistons, and lookig forward to seeing what can be done with them. Can you make tracks move up and down? Can things be fired? Will all rivers of the future have a constant of/off flow?
Can you make a sea tidal?

Yep, holding off until CraftBukkit is updated. There's a few bugs too by the looks of Twitter. I don't need 1.7 yet, as I am replacing roofs in the village with lightning proof ones (some are wood plans atm). I'm also extending the big-arse cool staircase down from the mansion and putting in a cool bridge across the Ha ha that will use pistons when they are ready.

Pistons will allow me to have the moat turn off and on able properly :D
I did actually go back to single player with the intention to try out pistons but I got caught up in playing in a non multiplayer fashion so started a new world for playing and haven't gotten to pistons levels of tech yet.

looks like there is an update for bukkit but there are bugs in 1.7.2 that might cause problems
I'm tempted to do a system backup and just give it a go
anyone think this is a really bad idea ? :D

Erm.. I've already started. Took a backup yesterday.

Seems ok!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
oh alright then :D
cool can't wait to try some pistoning action :D

I've started a piston bridge at the end of the staircase but can't figure out how to make one switch work all the pistons. :-(

Though pistons are very very cool they don't work quite like the mod you can't launch people up in the air
there seems to be a bug with sticky pistons where they only stick to other pistons when retracted hopefully they will fix this
Submitted by Evilmatt on Sat, 2011-07-02 00:30
they seem to be like torches and require a direct line of power going in
ok so bit of experimentation and I've found a way
run a line of blocks down the back of the pistons
put a line of redstone on the top of those blocks
apply power and all the pistons should open

hmmm the stickyness is interesting
been trying to replicat the secret door from the video and the nature of the stickyness plus the chaining issue makes it complex

So if you make one piston push another piston that is attached to a block as you retract that the block get's left behind due to the piston being "pulled" away from it by the other piston
limits the complexity of chaining pistons together

I was dicking about with water and accidentally washed away some of the redstone wiring. I don't understand it enough to put it back and now I have to do chores. Sorry mate, can you put it back please? :-(

basically you had it about right but you'd put the repeater backwards
they act like diodes the power only flows the way of the arrow

Repeaters seem the best way of getting chains of pistons working.
