Fish and I have been waiting for a game that is like GTA, multiplayer and fun. We sort of found it with Saints Row 2 and we sort of found it with the doomed APB. We had fired up SR2 a few times and buggered around sort of doing missions and sort of seeing how much trouble we could get into. However, the feel of the game was a little too cartoony and the physics easily confused over the network. It was a laugh but I want something more.
Hopefully, SR3 will give us that. Left 4 Dead co-op coolness in a GTA4 world.

I doubt they'll go all depressing and gritty like GTA4
their whole series arc with saints row is gta as it used to be before rockstar decided to go all serious on us. I vastly prefered SR2 to GTA4 the weird false tone shift of gta4 was one of the main parts that didn't gel nico agonizing about killing one guy when you've just mowed down a whole street of people. All those damn fixed missions that were basically cut scenes, all that annoying need to take your friends out bowling, and the bizarre vehicle handling made GTA4 for all it's advances a game I just gave up on.
SR2 was just enormous fun lots of stuff to do crazy style all the things that made GTA fun refined for a next gen machines. Being able to customise your character so the in game cut scenes had this crazy nutter was always fun having a female clown wearing a suit and talking in a male cockney voice.
I look forward to SR3 hopefully it will have as much fun in the game as SR2 did.
of course red dead redemption has raised the bar enormously on what an open world game should be I hope SR3 is up to that
I really like RDR as well. Jayne managed to plough well over 30 hours into it, so it's fair to say she's a fan.
Are you saying I should just buy RDR?
Yes in that it's a cracking game that I'd heartily recommend. No in that I've never played the multi and so have no idea if it will fulfil the requirements set out earlier in the thread.
