Just in case 252mph is a bit too slow for you, Bugatti have brought out a "Super Sport" edition of the Veyron with 1200bhp rather than the mere 1001 of the original.
It took the land speed record for production vehicles at 268mph, although apparently the production version will be limited to 258 to avoid the tyres disintigrating.
If that's still a little lackadaisical for you, a company called TranStar is supposedly working on a 2000bhp car with a promise that it will exceed 300, but they are relatively unknown, so might be worth taking with a pinch of salt.

Supercar doesn't sound like the right word for these cars. MEGACARS. Uberautos! Megatronicautomongous! The Veyron will hold a place in my heart as the first truly ridiculous car to come along in years. What tires will go on the TranStar? Surely the problem is with the rubber not lasting? How fast can rubber go?
This is all quite tame though. Someone will end up creating a production version of one of these where power is measured in thrust.
