I doubt anyone here didn't see this one coming.
It just shows the ultimate futility of these systems they never hurt the pirates they only piss off real customers. Ubisoft are now trying to pretent the cracked versions are not complete but that sounds highly suspect. Unless these are somehow beta code that's been cracked, in which case I won't be long before someone updates the image now the official versions are out.
Ubisoft have done this to themselves and it was inevitable this would happen they always have to leave a way for it to run without the internet servers in case they decide not to support it anymore so there is always a way for someone to activate that function before they actually take the servers down.

and even better they've already crashed their servers so no one but pirates can play the game

You have to laugh.
I understand that they need to protect themselves from going out of business but I think that companies should seek implement less Draconian and value-based solutions to piracy.
UBi are now claiming it was an attack on their servers and only 5% of people couldn't connect
Since they've not exactly been truthful thus far I suspect this is yet more spin control
I can believe it was an attack. The 5% figure? Not so much. Maybe only 5% of users tried during that time. That the logs recorded. Even that, I doubt.
