Been thinking about PC upgrades and Win 7 is definitely the way to go. Home Premium is only £70 on Amazon. Win 7 Pro is £160. So, 90 quid for not much more. Check out the link and let's hear you.

That's not the real question. The question is - is it necessary?
Probably not, but it brings down the price gap.
Only advantages are
Backup and Restore Center
Encrypting File System
Location Aware Printing
Remote Desktop Host
Presentation Mode
Windows Server domain joining
Windows XP Mode
and having more that 16GB with 64bit Win7
So if you're going to use/need any of those, then get Pro, else get the Home version
I can read the list but is it necessary. Is any of that actually lethally useful? The memory is interesting as 16GB isn't going to last for long but the rest of it? Is it actually useful? What is Location Aware Printing and is it important at home?
Would be more important on a laptop that you used at home and work, where at work you'd have a different default printer, so saving you the whole 5 seconds clicking the right printer from the list.
The only critical reason to go pro really would be if you need to run some software that works only on XP
Thanks Mark! That's a very good answer. Backup and restore is a feature that can be easily handled by OSS, so really I'm looking at the memory restriction. As I might be using Win7 for some time to come, I think it's probably wise to go Pro.
Thanks for the thoughts!
