Fractal Wrongness!

I was going to make some quip about Sarah Palin here, but really, I guess I just did. :)

OK, tad weird. I've checked out the original post, and there is an image there. Looking at the HTML it is also within this post, however the image URL is within an <a> tag, not an <img> one, and as there is no text in the link-tag its not showing?

Aggro, do you have strange tagging on your blog?

Pete, have another look, the img tag is in there. I think the Feed system seems to be stripping it. Can you look into it? Must be adminable.

Nothing I can see. It's in the incoming XML, but not in the published message, and I cannot see any config rules for HTML stripping.

This blog post had an image in as well, but it's been stripped out.

Looks like when the blog posts are imported some HTML is removed

But when the RSS is read directly it's not

Ignore me, found it in a stupid place somewhere completely different (FeedAPI settings). Currently allowed all HTML tags, rather than have a pedantically long list.

Also refreshed the incoming Feeds (mine and Aggro's blogs).

Looks fine from here now. Except it doesn't have my css, so the image isn't centered here... :)

Excellent work, babyc. I was secretly very proud when I saw Aggro's new blog post appear with all the others and then the bitter pill of missing image.

Aggro, STFU. ;)

Part of me is sad that the comments we add here aren't added to Aggro's blog as well. Feels a bit like we're cheating him of comments.

I'm sure there's no technical reason we couldn't back-propagate the comments, but I suspect it would be more effort than it was worth. Also, having the same comments popping up in two places, and being replied to in two places would probably get really confusing.

I never thought I'd say this, but I'm starting to see the value of those third-party comment systems, like Disqus.

From my perspective, people commenting here, rather than there, is a concern, but it's a pretty small one. After all, it's not like blogging is a popularity contest, where you win or lose based on the number of comments you get. Well, even if it is, I've lost spectacularly anyway. The only thing that bothers me at all is that I have readers who don't read lack, and they'll be missing out on anything you guys have to say if it's posted here.

I'm not going to lose sleep over it though, and I don't suggest you do. Just if you're really proud of something you say, consider saying it on my site as well.

And that bothers me too. I think your minimal-technical-development solution is the best one. Sorry for leeching your content, I can only hope it'll increase your audience!
