Aparantly a load of agriculture groups got really upset (to the point they might cry) about a study that showed bio-fuels are more damaging to the environment than using fossil fuels. So they did the equivalent of taking their ball and going home, they pulled funding from the university responsible for the study.
It's kind of annoying that these groups don't get the idea of research in that it isn't about just picking the answer that makes us all feel good or make lots of money (or both) and then making up stuff to support it, that's what creationists and anti vaccine people do. Real science is about getting to the truth of things no mater what.
