There and back again

Monday I did most of a day of work then had to rush over to SFO to drop the rental car and catch a flight over to orange county. Normally when I fly there it’s an 11h trip to LA then a hours drive so the 1h30 trip this time was refreshingly brief.

I arrive at Orange County Airport/Santa Ana Airport/ John Wayne Airport (it has a lot of names which makes it confusing to fly to) and found that my new phone didn’t allow me to dial international numbers. I spent a while trying to get that unbarred and so on when my boss phoned me instead shortcutting the problem. Still I’ll be ready the next time I need to phone an international number.

We had a bit of a drive around newport beach where the hotel was (a hotwire special 69 bucks a night very reasonable for a very nice hotel with nice rooms) then had a few drinks. After that we decided on the advice of the barmaid to walk to the restaurant where we were meeting a rep for dinner. As it turned out it was a touch further than we thought, we also miscalculated the route and ended up in a gated community and had to scale a brick wall to get out at the other end.

Still when we got to the restaurant “The Gulfstream” it was excellent as usual we started off with fried oysters, then I had seared Ahi with a Cajun sauce, we shared a side order of ribs, and rounded it off with some sort of frozen milk and cream pudding thing. It was all excellent and we washed it down with quite a few beers. The rep was kind enough to give us a ride back in his car  which was merc amg with a supercharged 400 bhp engine that had us squashed into our seats at several points on the way back. We wandered over to the bar for a night cap and then off to bed.

The next day was fairly standard meetings demo’s for customers then it was off to the airport again via the spectrum centre (local shopping mall) where my boss bought some hats for his kids and we had an icecream. Then it was back on the plane this time to San Jose rather than SFO as it’s a bit closer to where I now live. Picked up the rental car (need to sort out a proper on soon) and then drove home via supermarket to get various essentials.

Found the new bed is fairly comfy and the blinds in the bedroom are not sufficient to block the sun in the morning as I was woken up by it at 6.

Hopefully sofa and chair will turn up today I’m almost sorted with the furniture and bits and pieces a few misc things like the odd table or bedside stand I’ll probably pick up at some point. Now I need to focus on sorting out a car long term as renting is too damn expensive for more than a short while.

What sort of motor you going to get? Something boring and compact or something with a bit of welly?

I doubt it'll be anything too flash as my credit is non existent. Probably something boring for now then maybe I'll look at replacing it later.
