Move in day

So I managed to sort out an international money transfer so I can pay the rent and deposit on the new place who only take checks. This took till now to clear and transfer and yet more fees.

So I drove down this morning to sign the lease and pay the deposit pick up the keys.

I had planned to get all the furniture delivered today but with the delay on the money I didn’t have the cash for that so I just went for the essentials. A nice Samsung LED HDTV … and I might pick up a bed later.

The cable guy wired in my new tv phone and internet it has some ridiculous number of channels such that I need the guide book to find what to watch. It’s also supposed to be 24Mbps which should be good after spending time on quite dodgy wireless. The cable came with a small UPS which was a bit of a surprise but it means if the power goes out I have 4 hours of run time without the mains.

I took some pictures and did a extensive check of the condition of the place which is pretty good a few bits here and there that I noted but otherwise very nice. Then I took a wander down out of the property and through the grounds. The pool was looking very tempting and the landscaping is pretty nice there’s a huge park that runs down the middle which was nice to walk past. Down at the far end is a little shop, a starbucks, and a quizno’s so you can get a few things without going for the car. A bit further over is a large safeways for more serious shopping.

After getting that set up I headed back to hotel partly to see what the drive was like. Pretty quick even at kick out time. Now I plan to grab something quick for tea then see if I can get a bed from Ikea maybe a chair. Once I’ve got those basics I can ditch the hotel and move in to the flat full time.
